Welcome to the home of Fic Facer$ and our annual auction fundraiser for Random Acts.

guide to posting

OK, so you’ve communicated with your bidder, listened to your muse, and produced some  art/fiction. What now?

1. Most common scenario for writers:

You have written your story or the first bit of your story, and you’re going to post it on AO3.

Post it as usual with a few additions.

First, please add the work to the Fic Facer$ 2020 Collection on AO3.

Second, dedicate the story to whomever the bidder asked for, if they did ask. (It’s optional.)

Third, we’re not officially a part of Random Acts, and fourth, AO3 doesn’t want people “selling” stuff on their site. I’ve talked with people from both organizations, and there are two things you can do.

a. Don’t mention Fic Facer$ (apart from the link to the collection) or Random Acts.

b. Mention Fic Facer$ and/or Random Acts, and put the following disclaimer in your front/end notes:

This story is not affiliated, associated, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with Random Acts, or any of its subsidiaries or its affiliates. All donations have been paid directly to Random Acts, who do not own Supernatural or any of the characters in the stories.

Fifth, write to your bidder (if you can) and give them the link to the story/chapter.

Sixth, write to us at ficfacers@gmail.com and give us the link to the story/chapter. With this, we’ll make up the 2020 auction archive with links to all the works. Wanna see what this looks like? See the 2019 auction archive.

Seven, if you post in parts, please let us and your bidder know when the story is completed.

2. Most common scenarios for artists:

You have drawn your art, or at least a first draft, and you’re going to post it onTumblr, Deviant Archive, or the like.

First, dedicate the art to whomever the bidder asked for, if they did ask. (It’s optional.)

Second, write to your bidder (if you can) and give them the link to the art.

Third, write to us at ficfacers@gmail.com and give us the link to the art. With this, we’ll make up the 2020 auction archive with links to all the works. Wanna see what this looks like? See the 2019 auction archive.

Fifth, if you post a rough draft first, please let us and your bidder know when the story is completed.

3. Other scenario: You don’t post.

Occasionally, for whatever reason, the creative doesn’t want to post the story or artwork online and just wants to send it to the bidder.

First, send it.

Second, write to us at ficfacers@gmail.com and tell us “mischief managed.” We’ll note it in the archive.

4. Other scenario: You post on your own site.

First, post it.

Second, write to your bidder (if you can) and give them the link to the story/chapter/art.

Third, write to us at ficfacers@gmail.com and give us the link to the story/chapter/art. With this, we’ll make up the 2020 auction archive with links to all the works. Wanna see what this looks like? See the 2019 auction archive.

Fourth, if you post in parts, please let us and your bidder know when the story or art is completed.

And that’s it!
